Rigid gimp is used to mark the outline of the embroidery pattern (see photo). The rigid gimp is not strung on a needle, but is sewn with hidden transverse stitches. To do this, the gimp is slightly stretched, the transverse stitches should be short, strictly perpendicular to the fabric.
